Mission Vatsalya Scheme promotes family based non-institutional care of children in difficult circumstances based on the principle of institutionalization of children as a measure of last resort. In this spirit, the rehabilitation and reintegration of children is envisaged through Sponsorship, Foster Care, Adoption and After Care services.
A monthly grant of Rs. 4000/- per child shall be provided for Sponsorship or Foster Care or After Care to the state government. Every district shall have the Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee (SFCAC) to review and sanction sponsorship. The State Governments are encouraged to give additional grants for Sponsorship and Foster Care.
